You don’t usually see tech-savvy and baby boomers in the same sentence. It’s time to ‘mobilize’ midlifers! Become a Tech Savvy Baby Boomer: Learn to love your mobile device, there’s so much to love and learn, from droids and ios to tablets and apps.

There are a lot of jokes made about baby boomers when it comes to their use (or lack of) technology.  But, if their attendance at Verizon’s Mobile Boomer Workshops is any indication, this generation is not only embracing technology but also using it to manage their day-to-day lives. They just needed a little confidence and they got just that and more at the workshops, held in select Verizon stores in Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Texas, and Michigan.

It gets better. These free hands-on workshops are strictly for folks 55 and older. There are personal coaches (also boomers) that eliminate the intimidation factor.  Learning from peers who have embraced technology in an interactive, fun space makes it easy. Questions are encouraged and answers are geared specifically to each individual’s needs.

The topics varied from password protection to the latest and greatest apps to make your life easier, and a healthy dose of everything in between. It doesn’t even matter what type of phone you have or which carrier you use, the door is open and everyone is made to feel welcome and at ease. The session is divided into breakout groups: iPhone, Android, and one for Spanish speaking attendees. Each workshop lasts one-hour from start to finish. Pre-registered guests even received an awesome tech gift.

It is an hour well spent.  And, even though I was part of the 55+ team in Florida, after each and every workshop I walked away with some really useful tidbits and gems to enhance my mobile tech experience. I use my phone to schedule appointments, manage my calendar, take photos, shoot and edit videos, watch Netflix, shop, do my banking, get deals on Rx, make travel arrangements, stay social on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and occasionally I even make a call!

Getting older just keeps getting better. Have any questions just ask us! And, follow the hashtag #Verizon55Plus on Twitter!
