This fall, my wife, Denise, and I will be taking a much needed Rhine Getaway cruise from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland!
A few years we experience our first river cruise on Viking’s Romantic Danube cruise. We had an unforgettable journey taking in the sites, sounds, and magic of Christmas Markets from Nuremberg, Germany to Budapest, Hungary. The experience made us instant fans of river cruising and of Viking River Cruises.
As a professional traveler, I’ve had the opportunity to sail with Viking on multiple occasions. Sadly, Denise has not been able to travel with me as my plus-one since our Romantic Danube cruise. Between work demands with her “real job” and caring for her mother who recently passed away, leaving the country just hasn’t been an option for her.
I am unbelievably grateful that Viking offered me this trip and that Denise will get to go with me. She needs it. There is something about travel that helps heal a grieving soul. A trip to Montana was the perfect prescription for me after my father passed away. After losing her daughter in an automobile accident, my Midlife Road Trip co-host, Sandi McKenna, found the tranquility she needed on the same Romantic Danube cruise Denise and I were on.
Last fall, I took my brother, Ron, with me on Viking’s Passage to Eastern Europe cruise. It was his first cruise of any kind. He loved it so much that he booked space for he and his wife, Claudia, will to join us on our Rhine Getaway cruise!
