Travel Therapy: The Healing Waters of the Danube River #VikingCruises

I could barely contain my excitement as I was about take my first ever river cruise. We would be traveling down the famous Danube River on Viking River Cruise from Nuremberg, Germany to Budapest, Hungary. It was the first week of December and we would be visiting Christmas markets in each of the cities we stopped in. My best friend (and frequent travel partner) Lucille, was coming along and she was equally excited. I was already packed weeks in advance knowing the upcoming Thanksgiving holidays would be pulling me in a million different directions prior to my departure.

    #Travel highlighted in #Superbowl Commercials

#Travel highlighted in 2015 #Superbowl Commercials. There were three stand-out Superbowl commercials that put travel in the spotlight. Of course, they caught our attention. We love cruising and found the Carnival Cruise Lines super bowl commercial inspiring. It combined beautiful visuals and the words of John F. Kennedy: “We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch – we are going back from whence we came.” Then, they invited us to come back to the sea. We accept!

The Doritos commercial was just downright funny. As frequent travelers, at one time or another, we have all sat next someone who has done one or all of those things.

Jeep’s super bowl commercial featured the 2015 Jeep Renegade around the world in amazing places, with “This Land is Your Land, this land is my land” rolling acoustically in the background. Anyone ready for a road trip?

  • Making Burgers at Sea

Carnival Cruise Lines conspired with Food Network megastar, Guy Fieri, to open an instantly addictive eatery called Guy’s Burger Joint on the lido deck of the Carnival Sunshine. Though many cruisers just ask for a plain burger and some fries before heading over to the radical toppings bar where they create their idea of the perfect burger, there is a menu of Guy’s signature burgers that should not be ignored. […]

  • An Intimate Look Alaska’s Inside Passage

An Intimate Look Alaska’s Inside Passage

One of our very favorite summer vacations last August (and perhaps of all time) was a trip aboard the Uncruise Safari Endeavor giving us an intimate look Alaska’s inside passage.
Uncruise specializes in small group travel. In other words, each ship carries under one-hundred passengers making it easier for them to get in and out of places large cruise ships can’t go.

On our cruise we got to explore Alaska’s inside passage without ever stopping at a port for the week we were on board. While at first we thought we might lose our minds being unplugged for seven days, we quickly embraced the notion and were able to experience the real Alaska. Life onboard the ship was like no other. The passengers and crew became acquainted quickly and everyone seemed more like friends than strangers.

  • Posing with Key Lime Kermit!

Eating Key Lime Pie in Key West

The final port of call for our fabulous Holland America cruise aboard the Nieuw Amsterdam was Key West Florida where we got to check “Eating Key Lime Pie in Key West” off our Bucket List ! 5 Things we love about the AC Marriott, Barcelona

AC Marriott Forum in Barcelona, Spain

After 8 ½ hours in the air (add to that long TSA lines and weather delays) you want to know that you’ll at some point soon after your arrival, have a clean and comfortable bed awaiting you.

Just a short cab ride from the airport was our host in Barcelona, the AC Marriott. We have stayed at Marriott brand hotels throughout the United States, but never in Europe. This was our first experience with AC Hotels by Marriott.

The AC brand is a lifestyle hotel brand, aimed at appealing to the design conscious, business and leisure traveler who is looking to experience the culture of the city.
