No one in our lifetime will forget what happened on September 11, 2001. Everyone remembers where they were, what they were doing and who they were with. The day dragged on in slow motion as everyone was glued to their televisions, radios and the internet. Horrified, terrified and in shock we struggled to wrap our heads around what had happened. Why? How?

As the hours passed and turned into days, we learned of friends and family, missing or gone. We saw the faces of devastated loved ones scouring the streets of New York with photos of their missing husbands, sons, wives and mothers. The passengers and crews of the airplanes, the heroes and heroines who risked and sacrificed their own lives to safe others.

Our country pulled together. We forgot about petty squabbles.  People were thoughtful, compassionate. In the most vulnerable moment in our history our sense of humanity was at it strongest. United we stood.

10 years have passed and we will never been the same. Not the way we travel, not in the way we trust. The hole the attacks left in the ground are a reminder of the hole they have left in our hearts. We will never forget.
