One of the most exciting ports of call on our Mediterranean cruise aboard the Carnival Sunshine was Dubrovnik, Croatia. Medieval buildings with red terra-cotta roofs surrounded by the blue waters of the Adriatic make this charming town a photographer’s dream.
We knew very little about Croatian food prior to this trip, but we can honestly say that it was amazing. In fact, the fresh oysters were the best I’ve experienced anywhere in the world! This was also my first experience with Croatian wines. With Croatia being along the same latitude as two of my favorite wine regions, the Lombardy region of Italy and the Bordeaux region of France, I shouldn’t have been surprised at how wonderful it tasted.
As fans of the HBO series, Game of Thrones, we were excited to learn that much of the series is filmed in the city’s Old Town district.
