As a part Rand McNally / USA TODAY’s Best of the RoadRally, we are traveling from Washing DC to Watertown, NY to Duluth, GA to DeLand, FL to Enterprise, AL to Gainesville TX, to Mandan, ND to Seattle, WA in search of the most Patriotic Town in America!! Check out this Route!!
Hi Guys! It is me! The soon to be empty nester Susan from 30AEATS and @fromagechick on twitter! Since you are headed down my way, you might want to hit 30-A on July 4th. We start with family friendly decorated golf carts, bicycles, jeeps and a walking parade full of our locals in action, from Seagrove to Seaside at 8am. Then hop over to Grayton Beach for another local festive parade. Families hit the beach, bar-b-q, Seaside has concerts, and finally we meet back together in Seaside or Grayton for Fireworks! Our community stretch of County Hwy 30-A from Dune Allen to Rosemary Bech is about as “Patriotic” as you can get! You are completely missing out on the good things in life by not riding “D”, Deland, Fl to “E” Enterprise, Al along the Gulf Coast!! You are missing Apalachicola, the best oysters in the world still harvested with tongers by hand, Port. St. Joe, Mexico Beach, Panama City and Hunt’s Oysters in St. Andrews Bay, Panama City Beach, and 30-A! You can take Hwy 331 back to Enterprise, Or head to the outlets for shopping in Miramar Brach and take the mid-Bay bridge in Destin to get to Enterprise. Either way, the highlight of the trip is Apalachicola (Boss’s Oysters)and of course, 30-A! Emerald Green Waters, White Sand Beaches, Great Food and the Best 4th you could spend at the beach. Seaside has a motor – court as does the Gulf Campground in Miramar Beach. Freeport has one too, as does Topsail State Park and Grayton Beach State Park on 30!! Safe travels! Susan

PS: If Rand McNally had found 30-A on the 4th, or even Baytown at Sandestin, they would have quit writing. 😉
