America’s Most Haunted Attraction
The 13th Gate is the Ultimate Haunted House! There are 13 very frightening, even horrifying themed indoor & (weather-permitting) outdoor areas where they promise your worst nightmares will come true! Can you even imagine crawling through a crematory oven and an old hearse, or getting lost in dark underground tunnels or standing on a rickety bridge overlooking hundreds of live snakes? Well, the 13th Gate has 40,000 square feet of blood curling, heart-pounding horror!! It’s no wonder why they are voted one of the scariest haunted houses in the world! They even have a disclaimer: Not for the faint of heart (nor is it recommended for anyone who is pregnant, has a pre-existing heart condition, is very young, or has a weak bladder)! During the Halloween season, the 13th Gate has over 100 professional actors, 12 special effects makeup and airbrush artists and several costume specialists and we went backstage to see how they make the magic happens. We got a behind the scenes tour of America’s most Haunted Attraction and we got extreme Zombie makeovers! The 13th Gate is a perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit.WARNING: If you’re anywhere close to our age, you might want to wear Depends:)
Have you visited many of the other “top 10” haunted houses in the country? How does the 13th Gate stack up against the others? We’re in San Diego right now and visited The Haunted Hotel and supposedly it was top-notch, however after we went through it, we were less than impressed. My personal favorite and the most scary haunted house I’ve been to so far is in Louisville, KY and is called The Waverly Hills Sanitorium. It’s actually a legitimately registered haunted former insane asylum and hospital. They have the haunted house during the fall season and the rest of the year they give haunted tours and allow overnight paranormal research.
Thanks for adding to our haunted bucket list AJ! We’ll definitely have to check those out when we’re in the ‘hood!
