Travel and adventure can be thrilling, but it can also be stressful at times. Don’t return home looking worse for wear and like you need a vacation from your vacation. These seven road trip beauty tips can help you look refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to face the world.

Traffic Light Workouts

When traveling by car, try this little auto workout: squeeze your abdominal muscles at the red lights and release at the green. That doesn’t mean hold your breath, lol, just contract your abs.

Catnap

Not the one driving? Take a catnap along the way and feel – and look – refreshed when you reach your destination.

Healing Breaths

Take some healing breaths. Breathe in for a count of three, hold for one second, exhale for a count of five. Repeat several times. This breathing technique can be done anywhere, anytime and sends a message to your brain to relax. If you’re doing the driving, don’t get too relaxed!

Sing!

Sing along! Crank up that car sound system and belt out some tunes. “Music is really such a complex stimulus…and you can use it in an intentional way for general wellness,” says neurologic music therapist Kimberly Sena Moore. Studies show that the act of singing could lower your body’s cortisol level – the stress hormone – and release endorphins – the feel-good hormone.

Hotel Room Push-ups

Try hotel room push-ups. If you don’t have access to a gym or just don’t feel like using it, try these “vacay push-ups.” Find a medium-height piece of furniture in the room or use the bed. Place both hands flat on the surface, feet on the floor, and bust out a few push-ups. It may seem easy, but every muscle contraction counts. You can do these anytime and often.

Lip Balm

Remember the lip balm. Lip skin is very delicate, so even if you don’t prefer to travel with lotions or creams, take along a good, hydrating lip balm with SPF 15 or higher. Wrinkly, dry lips are aging.

Pack Powders and Solids

Look for solids and powders. Many beauty products that normally come as liquid or cream can also be found in solid and powder form, such as dry shampoo, gray roots concealer, foundation stick, mineral foundation and more. Even facial cleansers and moisturizers can be found in stick and powder form, eliminating the mess and hassle of traveling with liquids.
