I’m not a Burger Lover but my friend Isabel posed a wine pairing burger challenge: 3 Burgers, 3 Ways, 3 Wines. 1 Perfect Summer Night event #GDandBurgers. Not one to back away from a challenge I jumped at the chance. Armed with a spatula and our wild imaginations we entered the Midlife Road Trip test kitchen.

The first is a Portuguese inspired bunless burger. Isabel was born in Portugal and chorizo runs through her veins thus this amazing burger was finished with a delicious Chorizo wine sauce.

Our second burger was a simple blue cheese burger. Ground sirloin, roasted garlic, Maytag Blue Cheese, fresh ground black pepper cooked atop an aged oak plank. We topped it off with some more blue cheese and an olive, tomato skewer.

Our last burger was the biggest surprise. Neither one of us had ever eaten a turkey burger much less grilled one. We decided to do a fruity twist adding some teriyaki sauce, finely chopped red onion, diced pineapple and some panko bread crumbs. They were so full of flavor and paired perfectly with the wine.
